Privacy Policy
MuLab is a community built on honest listening. That honesty extends to how we treat your data: we collect what the service needs to work, we explain it in plain words, and we never sell your personal information.
1. Who we are
The MuLab app and the website mulab.in (together, the "Service") are operated by MuLab Technology Limited, a company incorporated in Hong Kong with its registered address at Unit B, 17/F, Silvercorp International Tower, 707-713 Nathan Road, Mong Kok, Hong Kong ("MuLab", "we", "us").
For any privacy question or request, contact us at info@mulab.in.
2. Information we collect
a. Account information
- Registration details — your email address, display name, and password (stored in hashed form).
- Social sign-in — if you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an account identifier and, depending on your settings, your name and email address. We do not receive your password for those services.
- Profile — anything you add to your profile, such as an avatar, bio, or your gear collection.
b. Content you post
- Public posts — reviews, signal chains (your source → DAC → amp → cable → earphone setups), hexagon sound scores, comments, photos, and related content you choose to publish. Public posts are visible to other users and visitors.
- Private posts — you can mark posts as private for your own personal use. Private posts are visible only to you, are not shown to other users or visitors, and are not used for community or product analysis.
c. Information collected automatically
- Basic technical data — device model, operating system version, app version, language, and similar information needed to run, secure, and maintain the Service.
- Crash and diagnostic logs — technical reports generated when the app crashes or misbehaves.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the Service — operate your account, display your reviews and chains, and let you interact with the community.
- Safety and moderation — enforce our Community Guidelines, investigate reports, and keep the community safe.
- Product improvement — understand how the app is used, fix crashes, and improve features.
- Product-performance analysis — analyse reviews and setups in aggregate to understand how audio products perform in the community: for example, the main feedback themes for a product, the setups it is commonly paired with, and its average sound scores.
- Communications — send you service messages (e.g. security notices, changes to terms). Marketing messages, if any, are optional and can be turned off.
5. Legal bases & international transfers
We handle personal data in accordance with the Hong Kong Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO). Where the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to you, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of our contract with you (providing the Service), our legitimate interests (safety, product improvement, aggregated analytics), your consent (optional communications), and compliance with legal obligations.
Your data may be stored and processed on servers located outside Hong Kong and outside your own jurisdiction. Wherever it is processed, we apply the protections described in this policy.
6. Retention & deletion
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active, and afterwards only as long as needed for the purposes described above or as required by law.
- Delete your account at any time — in the app under Settings → Account → Delete account, or by emailing info@mulab.in from your registered address.
- When you delete your account, your profile and personal data are removed from active systems within 30 days, except where we must retain limited records to comply with law or resolve disputes.
- Public reviews and scores you contributed may be retained in anonymised form (no longer linked to you) so that community discussions and product statistics remain intact. If you want specific posts fully removed, tell us when you request deletion.
7. Your rights
You can ask to access or correct the personal data we hold about you. You can also ask us to delete your account, remove specific posts, or stop optional marketing messages. We will handle these requests in line with applicable law and the retention rules described above.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, such as deletion or erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection to certain processing, or the right to opt out of certain uses of personal information.
To make a request, email info@mulab.in, preferably from the email address linked to your account. We may need to verify your identity before acting on the request. If we cannot complete a request, we will explain why.
8. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the higher minimum age in your jurisdiction), and they may not create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below the applicable minimum age. If you believe a child has created an account or shared personal data with us, contact us and we will review it and take appropriate steps, including deletion where required.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the Service changes. If a change materially affects how we handle your personal data, we will give reasonable notice where required or appropriate, such as through the app, website, or email. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the current version.
